Where's the Outrage?

(Yeah, I know I said I was taking a dandelion break ... I'm working on it.)

Mel Gibson's completely outrageous behaviour during his arrest for drunk driving has captured a lot of attention, especially the anti-semitic commentary, which I am not going to dwell on.

What I want to know is where are all the feminists? Is this not enough to raise our ire even just a little?
A law enforcement source says Gibson then noticed another female sergeant and yelled, "What do you think you're looking at, sugar tits?"

I know, I know, but you have to wonder whether it's really worth making a federal case of the lunatic rantings of one drunk, movie star or not, when there are so many, many, many things that demand outrage.

Now, had he been sober... it would be a different matter.

He has a wife and a houseful of kids; let's hope he just gets really sober now.

(It does make you wonder about some of his movies now, though, doesn't it?)

I was pretty disgusted, though, when I read about Bush trying to get Helen Thomas to plant a big kiss on him at the WH press briefing yesterday, the last one there until the space is remodeled.

Thankfully, she declined.

There's a huge mob of people-- correspondents, former press secretaries, both print & broadcast media-- and he decides to insult a woman has been a professional journalist since he was a child and who has covered every president since Kennedy! And this is his "sober" behavior?

I hate to say it, but perhaps it's time to start splashing him with cold water whenever he makes untoward-- and uninvited!-- advances towards other women.

Karen, I couldn't agree with you more. The attention Mel Gibson has gotten from his drunken escapade is out of control. What he did and said was wrong, wrong, wrong but shouldn't have been more than a passing headline in a gossip rag somewhere.

For all the attention this debacle has garnered, I wonder what the feminists haven't joined the fray. Don't tell me we all managed to get some common sense all of a sudden. ;-)

As for GWB, there is no hope. He insults everyone; Helen Thomas, Sam Donaldson, Iraq, Iran, Israel, the UN ... the entire world.
